What does a healthy environment mean for Scotland communities?
Our health is shaped in lots of different ways. The conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age all have a massive impact on making healthy communities - much more than the choices we make.
A healthy environment is one of those key ingredients of a healthy life. Where you live, the quality of your housing, and how prepared your community is for the impacts of climate change will affect what good health looks like.
Why health inequalities matter
That means some people and groups see big differences in their health for reasons outside of their control. It means some people live shorter lives than others, and shorter time in good health.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
By exploring what impacts people’s health, and hearing the ideas and knowledge of everyone in a community, we can start to reshape the relationship between health and climate for the better.
It means we can create a fairer, more equal society with communities supported to shape what a healthy environment looks like to them.
That’s the work Unbound will be exploring - with lots more to share soon.
