The health of our planet and the health of our population are linked in a fundamental way.

In Scotland, we already face significant challenges to population health with widening health inequalities meaning that people living in our more deprived communities live shorter, less healthy lives.

We also know that the impacts of climate change will widen inequalities within our society, both globally and locally. Those who have contributed the least to emissions will be most likely to suffer the worst consequences and be less resilient to the impacts.

Taking climate action is a crucial opportunity to bring about co-benefits which protect the health and wellbeing of the population and tackle inequalities.

The nature of the challenges we face are complex, and so we’ve brought together a collection of resources which can help us understand the different elements involved and start to see ways that we can make real, positive change for the health of both the planet, and ourselves.
